Are Porn Games Safe?

The internet is a wonderful place where you can find almost anything, including pretty much any type of porn imaginable: games included. Unfortunately, the internet is also a place where a lot of people are out to get you, so you can't trust everything you come across. That includes porn games.

However, it's not as simple as saying all porn games are or aren't safe. Like all content on the internet, there are both safe porn games and unsafe ones. The trick is being able to tell the two apart.

What Does “Safe” Mean?

As far as this conversation is concerned, “safe” refers to a porn game that isn't trying to do anything malicious to you or your computer. It's exactly what is advertised and is truly just a game meant for your enjoyment and patronage.

An “unsafe” porn game is usually just a front for some sort of scam. It may try to put malware on your computer, or acquire your credit card or other personal information, or something similar. Commonly referred to as “phishing” sites, these types of websites are fronts for scammers and con artists, and porn games just happen to be one cover they use.

This does not mean all porn games are scams trying to take advantage of you, just like all store websites or news sites aren't scams. However, some of them are, and therein lies the problem. It's up to the user (you) to determine whether or not a porn game is safe. But how do you do that?

Use Reputable Sites

Most people don't associate the word “reputable” with porn. But porn is a product just like anything else, and that means there are trustworthy businesses out there that offer it. They want to make a profit one way or another, and being reputable is how they do that.

For instance, Pornhub is a reputable website that everyone knows they can trust. It has been around for years, it's never scammed anyone, and it isn't trying to steal money from you. There are sites like that for porn games as well. Some examples include Steam and Nutaku.

Basically, whether you are looking into browser or downloadable porn games, you generally want to rely on sites that have a name for themselves: a brand that can be recognized in the public eye, even if it's only on the internet.

Things to Look For to Guarantee Safety

If you are not sure if a website providing porn games is safe, there are several things you can do to look into its security. Consider the following when you're on a porn site. HTTPS

When you are on a website, you will often see the letters “https” before the website's actual domain. The “S” indicates that the website is using security and authentication protocols to ensure that information isn't leaked, among other things. Generally speaking, you can trust websites that have “https” before the domain.

That's because most scam sites either won't or are unable to use those protocols, so they will not have that designation on the address bar. Now, this is not to say that every website without an “https” is unsafe, but if you are feeling wary of a particular porn site, this is something to look out for.

Social Media Presence

Having a presence outside of one particular website is part of being reputable. A reputable website or organization is willing to be in the public eye because it has nothing to hide (at least, nothing like being a scammer to hide, as word of that would get out pretty quickly!).

For example, Nutaku, one of the world's largest adult gaming sites, has a Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram account. They're not trying to hide from scrutiny like an unsafe scamming site would.

If you are unsure if a porn gaming site is safe or not, do some research on their presence in other parts of the web: do they have social media accounts? Discussion boards on places like Reddit? Reviews left by users? If you can't find any of these things for a particular porn gaming site, be wary.

Verify Contact Information

A reputable porn gaming site that you can trust to be safe is going to have several ways for you to get into contact with them, including phone numbers and email. Of course, scamming sites can put up fake numbers of email addresses to try and trick you, but it's not terribly hard to discern the truth.

If you are unsure of the trustworthiness of a porn gaming site, call their contact number, and email their contact address, to see if they are legitimate. If there is never any response, or worse, if the number is out of service, you may be better off steering clear of that site.

Be Wary of Payment/Information Requests

Lots of porn gaming sites will require you to provide some degree of information, especially if you have to make an account for the site. But generally, the most they want from you is your email address. That's pretty normal.

If a site starts asking for things like a physical address, a social security number, or credit card information (before you are even trying to purchase anything, a site should never need your bank info just to make an account), those are serious red flags.

A high number of pop-up ads that redirect you to other sites are also a big giveaway. Keep all of this in mind, and you should be able to find porn games that are safe for both you and your computer.
